Learn one new word from the dictionary every day.

When someone uses a word you don’t know, ask them what it means.  People love to show off their knowledge and will be happy to explain. Check the word later in a dictionary or on-line – sometimes people misuse words.

Make a point of reading above your level, and keep a dictionary nearby. Try to guess the meanings of the words you don’t know from their context, then  check the dictionary.

Practise using your new words.  When you’ve got a few which you can spell without error, log on to Wordle, www.wordle.net, and make a word cloud with them.  Send the cloud to your friends.
