Today, at 11am, Marcel left us forever after a long battle with renal cancer. He was No.9 of 11 siblings and the first to leave – always the unerring leader. A man of extraordinary character and skills – blessed with rare kindness and generosity. His passing was of the utmost grace and peace, gently retreating until he was fully collected on the other side. We are diminished as a family, but strengthened by the memories of all that he was – his capacity for organisation, his efficiency, his open-hearted raucous humour, his marvellous ability to solve technical problems, his surety of purpose, and his dedication to his family and to his Church. He leaves behind his beautiful wife, Anna, and son, Reuben. Rest well, dear brother, rest well. 7 May 1966- 25 February 2018.

Oh my, please accept our condolences as this will be a big loss to your whole family, you did so well with this long illness. Rest in Peace Marcel though we had not spoken for a long time we have know each other a long time. All the best to all your loved ones. Thinking of you all Merle and Kevin.
Finally, after a long and courageous battle, he leaves us with memories of strength, fortitude and love. We can all learn from him.
From Scotland, with love.

Your words are lovely Maria. So apt for our brother. He will be missed by all of us in so many ways. I can’t believe he is not here to jolly us along and give his such solid advice. To have fun st the family gatherings st his house and to laugh at us and stir in good humour as he so readily did. He was talented in so many ways. We will all miss him. Simone, Anil and family xx
Oops – I meant laugh with us as he so readily did. So glad he enriched our lives, so sad he is no longer physically present. Anna and Reuben have been amazing – he and we couldn’t have wished for more. Always with you Marcel.
Love Simone xx
Uncle Marcel,
You have taught me to live life to the fullest, until we met again.
Death is a funny thing,
We’re shocked, yet, understand,
We fear, yet, do not understand,
We’re lonely, yet, surrounded
We reflect, accept, reconstruct
Yet a void, only you can fill
Well spoken, he is all those things plus more.
His faith was of exemplary fervour, a tremendously capable soul for uplifting the downhearted.
Number nine in order of birth, but his leadership was in first position.
You well deserved this peace, with love, Mum
