Charlie comes a cropper every now and then…well, almost daily. He backs up on the kitchen bench, taking absolutely no markers for where the sink is, and thus often finds himself in the bottom of it, struggling to stay upright on a large pile of cutlery. Or, mis-stepping from the hand of assistance to the top of the shower cubicle, finds himself awash in the bottom of the bath-tub and heading for the plughole. Still not up with the play, he runs quickly to where he’ll get wettest instead of heading north where it’s dryer, so assistance is obliged to scoop him quickly up for his own sake. He’s always glad of the help, and expresses no rancour whatsoever, although he often seems utterly surprised.
Charlie’s Comment: What good will getting cranky do me? I get help when I need it. If I was to become upset by my misfortune, it would be harder to accept help and the misfortune would last longer and get in my way. I dust myself off and see what can be done.
